All the New Year resolutions we made a few months ago have one thing in common – they aim at self-improvement. Whether you created a long or a short list, you wished to be at a different level by December. Whether you have achieved your goals or you are in the process depends on many factors.

Within books are tons of wisdom applicable in the present and the future. Books are enriching, and they teach you more about life. You don’t have to go through everything in life when you can learn from the experiences and lessons of others. The best tax accountants or litigators read more books out of your field.

  1. Pick up a new hobby

Learning something new can stretch your intellect. It will also stretch you emotionally and physically. So, if you’d like to learn a new sport, cooking or web design, go for it.

  1. Learn a new language

You may not see the benefit immediately but, the future you will appreciate the effort. Learning a new language opens up new job opportunities, and it is also mentally captivating. The brain is a muscle that gets better when you work on it. You will also learn that learning a new language is a mind-opening experience. You can take up a new course as well.

  1. Develop a weekly workout routine

The first manifestation of a better you is physical. To get better, you should get into shape physically. Working out at least three times a week will lead to a better-looking body. You can mix up your workout routine, just make sure you stay active. Your mind and your immune system will thank you too.

If you still walk with slumped shoulders and your head cowering, you should stop immediately; these are signs of low confidence and poor self-esteem. It will feel impossible in the beginning but once you have a high level of confidence, you will be able to make better social/ professional connections, and you won’t give into fear.

Your strong personality will also let you overlook negative comments, and you’ll be able to stand your ground in all areas of your life.

Procrastination is the biggest hindrance to self-improvement. Apply for that job now, learn that skill, and take the new courses.

What do you think of your life five or ten years from now? What kind of person will you be? Once you write the letter, seal it, and start working towards shaping the path for the future you dream about. Some websites let you write a letter to your future self, and on the future date, they send you an email with the letter.

  1. Put someone up to a challenge

Naturally, the challenge creates competition, and you’ll grow in the process. Pick any challenge then compete with your friend. You will both learn more about your strengths and weaknesses in the process. This challenge will show you your blind spots too. Don’t forget to ask for feedback and to take negative criticism positively.
